General Conference: April 2017

Hey there!
I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted on my blog... yet I can because I'm not good at this stuff. But I'm giving it another go because journal writing is a necessity, or so they say. ;)
Today is Sunday, and this weekend has been one of my favorites that only happens twice a year: General Conference! For some reason any time General Conference is coming up, I get this giddy feeling inside that just makes me want to burst with joy. Maybe it's because of the freakin' fantastic treats my mom always makes.. I guess my mother's raised me well. ;) For all of y'all who don't know what General Conference is, it's a time where everyone from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (and absolutely anyone else who wants to!) gather together to listen to our church leaders and Prophet deliver messages that they've been led by the Holy Ghost to say. It's really super awesome because we get to hear from God! In Amos 3:7 it states, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."
I had a few favorite talks from this conference that had answered a few questions I have been pondering and praying about. So I think I'll just share a few thoughts from of few of their talks. (buh-dum sss. I always tell people I should be a rapper for my sick rhyming skills but for some reason they don't think I could do it.)
So my first favorite was from Saturday morning from President Eyring. He said how doing family history work will bring the Spirit to us, even stronger, and will protect us even more from the adversary. Our ancestors watch over us all of the time and help us to get through this life so I think it's important to get to know them. One of my new goals is to do better at family history work. (Oh! PS I'm putting the links to all of the talks at the bottom if anyone's interested in hearing more :))
The next talk I really enjoyed was when Elder Ballard talked about goals. Whether we're members of the Church, or not we are often told how important goal setting is. This is because as human beings, we naturally work harder when we have something in mind that we are reaching for. Elder Ballard made another point of how we don't just need good goals, but we need a good plan to reach those goals.
The last thought that I really really liked, (cause I liked a lot of them) was from Elder Rasband who said how we always need to act on our first prompting from the Lord, through the Spirit. He said that the more we ask for special promptings and the more we act on them, the more we'll receive until we are truly on the Lord's errand.
General Conference always brings a special Spirit into the home that nothing else can; we literally get to spend eight hours together as a family, listening to the men that God Himself has called to lead His church. I love being a member of the LDS church and I have such a strong testimony of it.

My Most Favorite Things

  • FAMILY  My family is my very favorite. They're my best friends and I know that we'll be together for eternity.
  • GOSPEL  "I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know who I am, I know God's plan, I'll follow Him in faith..." (it's a primary song:))
  • DANCE  I love dancing. I feel so happy when I dance and I feel like I can just be myself. It's also so cool to think that dancers (specifically ballerinas) look so gorgeous, but can you imagine how much strength it takes to hold your leg up that high?! (yeah, think on that;)) I mean, wrestlers can get away with not looking their best when they play and use strength, but can you imagine a ballerina looking like a hot, sweaty wrestler? Yikes!
  • FRIENDS  Without my friends I would be a lost cause. I'm so grateful for all of them and for them putting up with my crazy self.
  • PHOTOS  Aren't they amazing?! It's like a memory captured in the perfect moment.
  • SKIM MILK  I know it's weird, but I swear I could live off of it... and it's just to delicious to not include in my list of favorites.
  • HARRY POTTER  I guess you could say I'm a bit of an HP nerd. Read all the books, seen all the movies, been Luna Lovegood for Halloween, and own a Behind-the-Scenes book... oh yeah. I also have a wand that actually CHOSE ME when I went to Disneyworld.
  • DISNEY: DISNEYLAND & WORLD  Disney's the best because it just makes you happy. Who cares if it's not realistic; my life is realistic enough so I watch Disney movies to make me happy. Disneyland is almost the happiest place on earth. The best rides are California Screamin' or Tower of Terror. I've been enough times that I can't remember how many and it's just so happy. :) I've also been to Disneyworld once, soooo fun!! I want to go back. (hint hint)
  • EVERYTHING SWEET  I love dessert. (but really, who doesn't?) cookies, brownies, ice cream, you name it!
  • RICHFIELD  Richfield Utah is a prime place to live. Go RHS Wildcats! :)
